Dulany Gardens at PTO Complex, Alexandria VA

TIR Systems (pylon by others)
Landscape Architect: EDAW, Alexandria
Architect: Skimore Owings & Merrill, Washington DC

Glass block pylons form two colonnades which define the center of this two-block long  landscape feature.  Mounted at the bottom of each pylon and accessible through a louvered stainless steel service door, a TIR Destiny Series LED luminaire provides color changing uplight which transforms the structures into luminous forms.  The show recording device connects to the DMX control chain inside one of the buildings adjacent to the Gardens.

Gallery Place Metro Entryway, Washington
A row of rectangular and square kiosks manufactured by Neri spa provides auxiliary retail space along a promenade which fronts a portal leading to the Gallery Place Metro station. Neri craftsmen assembled the structures on site.

Bay Area Community Church,  Annapolis MD
Engineered Lighting Products
Architect: Waldon Scott
Engineer: Allen & Shariff

ELP’s A9 Series extrusions are mounted back to back to provide fluorescent uplighting of the exposed sloped ceiling deck  in this two-storey space.  Luminaires are situated above the mezzanine that runs the length of a concourse that links lobby, reception area and café.  They provide ambient lighting for the mezzanine as well as a uniformly luminous horizontal ceiling plane which silhouettes the undulating form of the mezzanine when viewed from below.

The Westin Hotel, Arlington VA
TIR Systems
Architect:  WDG, Washington DC
Engineer:  GHT Ltd., Arlington VA

TIR Systems Light Pipe is used  to highlight the hotel’s  prominent corner. Six sections of 6” diameter pipe are joined to form what appears to be a continuous line of light of about 100 feet in length.  Five TIR Destiny Series LED luminaries are mounted to horizontal slabs at right angles to the pipe, with one axial luminaire at the bottom.  Hotel staff can recall color changing routines or create specific color “looks” for special events.

Amtrak south platform near BWI Marshall Airport
LSI Architectural Outdoor
Engineer: STV

Originally constructed around 1980, this passenger train platform’s renovation included a new lighting system which was required to provide generous levels of illuminance   The LSI Greenlee Lifestyles luminaire was selected both for its daytime appearance and optical performance.  Lights are mounted on poles at 20 foot intervals and use vertical pulse start metal halide lamps.
